All of our wheelchair prices on our Website, Ebay and Amazon are shown at ZERO RATE VAT.
We do this because we aim to provide the best and easiest customer buying experience possible so our customers don’t have to go through the complicated and lengthy process of trying to reclaim the VAT on their purchases.
However if you do not qualify for the VAT EXEMPTION, you will need to contact us via phone or email before we can move forward with the purchase.
At point of delivery you will receive a welcome pack from us, and all we require from you is to fill out our VAT FREE form and return it along with the warranty form so we can attach it to your invoice for our own records in case we ever get checked.
This brief guide explains who can qualify for VAT exemption on our products.
VAT Free Purchasing
95% of our customers qualify for VAT exemption, which means as long as you fill our form you won’t have to pay VAT on your purchase under the VAT relief scheme. When you place the order LITH-TECH will simply charge you the VAT-free amount. This way you don’t have to pay the VAT up front and you don’t have the stress of trying to reclaim from the government.
Who Qualifies for VAT Exemption?
You can qualify to buy mobility products VAT-free if you are chronically sick or disabled.
Goods purchased must be for your own personal, non-business use.
For the purposes of VAT relief, Her Majesty’s Customs & Revenue (HMRC) defines ‘chronically sick or disabled’ as:
- you have a physical or mental impairment which has a long-term and substantial adverse effect
- upon your ability to carry out everyday activities
- you have a condition that the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness, such as diabetes
- you have a terminal illness.
Temporary mobility impairment (a broken leg, for example) does not qualify for VAT exemption.
What About Older People?
VAT exemption for mobility products is not directly affected by age. If you are 60 years of age or older and you have a chronic illness or disability you can still qualify for VAT-free products. On the other hand if you are over 60 and otherwise healthy you do not automatically qualify for VAT relief.
